The maximum age for General Skilled Migration will be lowered to 44 years from the current Maximum age of 49, As of July 1st, 2017
At this point of time the below visa types will not be affected by the changes.
For Skilled Nominated Subclass 190 – maximum age 49
For Skilled Regional Provisional Subclass 489 – maximum age 49
The new New Zealand Citizen stream of Subclass 189 – (no age limit)
At present , According to the Department of Immigration around 1 % applicants for the 189 Subclass are between 45 and 49. The overall impact on this program is small but for the applicants between 45 and 49 the effect will be significant due to the age limit which is being reduced to 44 for permanent employer.
