Skilled Occupations List for 2015-16 Announced
The Skilled Occupations List (SOL 1) and CSOL (state and employer-sponsored) lists have been announced for the 2015-16 Financial Year for Australia skilled migration and will apply from 1 July 2015.

The news is good for accountants, with no accounting occupations being removed from SOL 1.

Urban & Regional Planners and Dentists have been removed from the SOL and Primary School Teachers have been removed from the CSOL entirely. But they are trying to get the primary school teachers on to CSOL.

Skilled Occupations List (SOL 1) Changes

The Skilled Occupations List (or SOL 1) is used for Skilled Independent Subclass 189 Visa, the Skilled Regional Provisional Subclass 489 Visa (Family Sponsored), and the Graduate Temporary Subclass 485 visa

The following occupations have been removed from SOL 1:

These occupations have been on the SOL for a significant amount of time and will greatly impact those in these specializations. However, they may still be eligible for state or employer-sponsored options as the occupations remain on the CSOL.

To the relief of many international students, the accounting occupations remain on the Skilled Occupations List and have not been removed.

The following occupations have been added to the SOL 1:

Consolidated Sponsored Occupations List (CSOL) Changes

The Consolidated Sponsored Occupations List (or CSOL) is used for the Skilled Nominated Subclass 190 Visa, the Skilled Regional Provisional Subclass 489 Visa (State Sponsored), and employer-sponsored 457 and Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) visas.

The only occupation removed from the CSOL is Primary School Teacher 241213. As a result, Primary School teachers are not eligible for state-sponsored or employer-sponsored visas. This is surprising as Pre-Primary and Secondary School teachers are on the SOL, which would indicate that teachers are in short supply.
